Election Comission of Barbhag College

The Election Commission of Barbhag college is formed to draft the rules of Barbhag college Students Union election keeping into the view of Lyngdoh Committee Recommendation. The main purpose of the commission is to administer the election of students union of the college according to the Barbhag College students’ union election rules.



Structure of the comission

The structure of the election commission of Barbhag college is-


1. Chief Election Commissioner: Principal of the College
2. Deputy Election Commissioner: Vice Principal (s)
3. Assistant Election Commissioner:

     a) Coordinator of IQAC
    b) Dean of Arts
    c) Dean of Science

    4. Returning Officer: An Associate/ Assistant Professor of the college selected by committee comprising Chief Election Commissioner, Deputy Election Commissioner (s) and Assistant Election Commissioner (s).
5. The Returning officer will select the Presiding Officer, Polling officers and other election officials
6. Accountant of the College





Functions
Members of the election commission have the responsibility for different parts of the election process according to their position within the committee. The Election commission has to supervise and to give directions in the process of the preparation of the Election Electoral Rolls for the election. Before each election, the Election Commission shall appoint a Presiding Officers, polling officers and such other Officers as may be considered necessary to assist the Election Commission in performing the functions entrusted to the Commission. The main function of the commission is to conduct the students’ union election smoothly. For this following initiatives should be taken by the commission.

1. Commission should take initiatives to maintain discipline in the college Campus.
2. Frame Code of Conduct for Candidates and Elections Administrators
3. Fixed the duration of election process.
4. Frame eligibility criteria for the candidate.
5. Form a Grievance Redressal Mechanism.
6. Maintaining Law and Order on the Campus during the Election Process.
